開元通寶是唐高祖武德四年（621年）鑄行的一種貨幣，是唐代流行時間長，重要的流通貨幣。幣面上下右左有“開元通寶”四字，又有人上右下左回環(huán)讀作“開通元寶”，有說此為為后世銅幣以“通寶”或“元寶”為名的由來。
